Supporting Mothers in the Workplace Through Mindfulness

How We Can Help
Why Support Moms in Your Business Culture?
=Fact about how mindfulness does that. Maternal mental health is a huge issue one of the leading reasons women do not return to work or if they do...fueling the PPA/PDD.
Returning to work after maternity leave is a monumental transition and it’s no question that new moms returning to work need more support. You could be losing ⅓ of your “new mom” employees and 40% of women who don’t return to work did so because they didn’t feel guided and supported by their employers.
Easing this transition and providing some much-needed support to those women as well as all the mothers you employee, can help women handle the high-stress levels, anxiety, depression, guilt, and so many other emotions women face while balancing career and parenthood.
Becoming a supportive work environment for women and mothers can set you apart from other employers. Studies show that as employees mothers are more productive and efficient, have better leadership and collaboration skills, and are skilled decision-makers than other employees.

Increased Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
Enhanced Sense of Wellbeing
Mindfulness is the future of the workplace.
Aetna partnered with the American Viniyoga Institute and eMindful and began a pilot program with 239 employees. Now, more than one-quarter of Aetna’s work force of 50,000 has participated in at least one mindfulness class, and those who have report, on average, a 28% reduction in their stress levels, a 20% improvement in sleep quality and a 19% reduction in pain. They also become more effective on the job, gaining an average of 62 minutes per week of productivity, each which Aetna estimates is worth $3,000 per employee per year. Additionally, Aetna is seeing a decrease in healthcare costs as a result.
As two moms who were left feeling under-supported by our health practitioners and employers, we've made it our mission through Enlightenedhood to help mothers find peace, reclaim their power and find a way to balance their new identity as a mother with their career.
Mothers are pulled in an unfathomable amount of directions and balancing that with a career can seem insurmountable in the beginning. While we can’t help you get more hours in the day, incorporating mindfulness can help us be more intentional about our time, making it feel like we have more.
