If you’ve attended a meditation class, workshop, or intuitive session lately, chances are the instructor offered you a chance to work with Oracle Cards. It is a wonderful spiritual practice to gain guidance and insight. But you may be wondering what they really are, how to use them, and should you try them?
Oracle Cards are a card deck with beautiful artwork, quotes, or direction. They are another spiritual tool that offers a way to receive guidance and insight. The cards offer a chance for you to tune into your own intuition, divine guidance, and magic within you.
There are so many different Oracle decks to choose from. It is important to choose cards that have imagery that you resonate with which can help you connect with the cards. Some of my personal favorites are the Renegade Mama decks, Christiane Northrup’s Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, and any of Rebecca Campbell’s beautiful decks.
Once you have chosen your Oracle Card deck, take a few quiet minutes to relax and breathe in the sacred space in your home. Clear the energy in the space with a sage or Paolo Santo stick. Meditating for a few moments prior to working with an Oracle deck can help you shift your attention and focus inward and open yourself to the guidance available.
Take a moment to set an intention for this card pull. Set an intention to be open to receiving the necessary message as you shuffle the deck. Fan the cards out, face down. Let your nondominant hand slowly graze over the desk from left to right. Ask your question out loud or internally with intention while you guide your hand over the spread cards. In time you will feel the weight and energy shift when you are over the card that is calling to you. As you begin, just tune into what card you feel called to and choose. Don’t let yourself over think this, the right card will find you.
If you currently work with Spirit Guides or Angels, you can ask them to help you choose the right message. You can ask the cards a specific open-ended question or you can use a card spread that is specifically chosen to answer questions about the past, present, and future. I often ask for what message I need to receive and choose a card of the day and a card of the week. Where in your life are you seeking guidance? What questions could help provide you insight or direction? Start slow as you begin to work with the cards and notice how quickly your intuition begins to strengthen and grow!
Open your mind as you flip your card over and receive the message. Many Oracle Card decks will come with a guidebook for more information to shed light on the reflection. The lesson from the cards can provide the immediate push or advice we need to hear or reveals itself slowly as we go about our day.
I hope this advice helps you to choose and begin working with the right Oracle Card deck. Let yourself be open to finding the divine guidance residing within your spirit and your heart.
