Michelle Valenti: Chasing My Joy

Michelle has negotiated remote work and shorter work weeks at two different full time, "fast-paced" jobs. At first, it was because she wanted to travel the world while earning an income. Now it's because she wants to spend more time with her husband and children than apart from them. She is a marketing and lifestyle design consultant, and host of the Wandering Workers podcast where she interviews other people who are living life on their own terms. Her aim is to prove that it's possible for anyone to live by their own rules and to show the different ways that people are making it work.

Michelle’s story of living a life of intention will fill you with inspiration to design the life you want! She gives us a glimpse of her life built around choosing fun and adventure and where it all led her. 

As she realized that you don’t have to choose adventure or career, she began to combine her passion and grow personally and professionally without sacrificing the fun! Michelle began to intentionally design her life, letting go of the “shoulds”, and creating a life of joy. 

Where before kids, her focus was freedom and just a little youthful defiance, her focus now is more about creating space so she can maximize time with her family. She works hard to identify the things that are most important to her, being clear on what her vision for life is, and making the little choices along the way that can move them in that direction. 

Michelle has a strong connection to herself and her intuition. As she listens and is true to herself, she can make decisions for her and her family on what feels right. She felt herself craving and needing mindfulness and balance after having her second child.  

She began a meditation practice to help her deal with the anxieties and fears surrounding motherhood, telling us the irony of how long it took her to commit to a personal practice.  She had the knowledge and awareness of its benefits but it wasn’t until she found an accountability partner in a friend that made all the difference. Her advice about finding a partner to remind and sometimes even convince you to get on your mat might be exactly what you need to hear! 

As Michelle began her practice and almost immediately began receiving the calming benefits she was able to be more patient and present with her kids and more fully enjoy the time she has with them.  She was blown away by how 5 minutes could bring her so much more power, efficiency and less stress.
