Womb Wellness is a hot topic in the yoga and spirituality world right now. Womb Yoga, Womb Wellness, Womb Massage, so many beautiful ways to connect and engage further in whole self wellness.
But what does it really mean? What does it entail?
When I began working with and sharing Womb Wellness Yoga, I found that while the work can seem a little woo woo, what it is really about is just self-love and connecting with yourself!
The ultimate goal of Womb Yoga is self-love and acceptance, being so comfortable with our own body, so trusting of our intuition that we can open ourselves to our fullest potential. When we aren’t connected to that center we are barely touching the surface of what our sacred bodies and minds are capable of. Womb Yoga and its teachings helps us to open to it, love it, accept it, journey with it, heal it, and connect with ourselves.
There can also be the assumption that Womb Work is only for Mothers or women who have had that type of experience. For me, I experienced that deep pull to the Divine Feminine after having experienced pregnancy and childbirth, which may be common for a lot of women but the practice of womb work doesn’t only involve those experiences. It is for women who have experience with or without pregnancy, childbirth, menstrual cycles, or any other specific event in a woman’s life. It isn’t even necessary to have a womb to practice womb wellness. I believe that when yoga instructors and practitioners refer to our wombs, we mean our femininity, not just the physical space within our bodies, but our essence, history, and all experiences of being ourselves as a woman.
Womb Yoga isn’t about buying into or pushing (unfortunately) common stereotypes of womanhood or femininity. It is not about being good enough or being more attractive to others. You don’t have to be a girlie girl or come in a flowy skirt, unless you want to! That is the beautiful nature of womb work. Getting in touch with your authentic self might reveal many layers and interests that can both compliment and contrast each other. It helps us to accept who we are and who we want to become. Making peace with our truth and our story, including all the experiences that have shaped us!
Tapping into this work with the Divine Feminine is about stripping away all the layers of our womb (coping, hiding, tension, shame, trauma, stagnant energy, mistrust, fear) to reveal with has always been there. Finding ways to remember our worthiness, reconnect to our passion, purpose, and sense of pleasure living in our bodies. It’s about being, treating, honoring, and connecting with our true self.
I realized that when I was connected to my feminine energy center, my womb, I was awake, aligned, and everything was back in balance. I was a better Mother, Wife, Friend, Sister, I was my best self.
Womb Wellness and all the work it encompasses is for any woman, at any stage in her life. Women who are interested in yoga and mindfulness and are feeling a desire to support their own health, well-being, creativity, sexuality, and spiritual consciousness, can absolutely receive incredible benefits from Womb Work.
